DAP supports Azmin as the new CM, hopes that the political crisis has ended

SHAH ALAM, 23 Sept: The DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) has decided to support the Assemblyman for Bukit Antarabangsa, Azmin Ali, as the new Chief Minister.

The DAP Secretary-General, Lim Guan Eng, said that the CEC has also directed all 15 DAP Assemblymen who previously supported the Assemblyman for Kajang to support Azmin as the Chief Minister.

“The CEC it its meeting has also decided to support the statement made by the PKR President, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to withdraw from the position after the Sultan of Selangor consented to appoint Azmin.

“The CEC has also decided to support Azizah’s proposal of recommending Azmin to hold the position, in line with the CEC’s stand which is clear and consistent that the Chief Minister candidate must be from PKR,” he said in a statement.

Lim hopes that the solution to the political crisis in Selangor and the appointment of the new Chief Minister will be able to deliver on its promises to build a better Selangor.

“It also aims to provide justice, freedom and economic prosperity to all,” he said.

The Sultan of Selangor consented to appoint the Deputy President of PKR, Azmin Ali, as the 15th Chief Minister, effective today.

Azmin will replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim who completed his service as Chief Minister yesterday.
