Exco: New CM should continue the legacy of excellence, integrity & transparency

SHAH ALAM, 23 Sept: Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as the Chief Minister of Selangor managed to bring about major changes in the State Government administration by leaving a legacy that the people of the state is proud of.

State Government Executive Councillor Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi said that Abdul Khalid was known as being very professional without mixing the issue of partisan politics when he carried out the duties which were entrusted to him.

He said that with an attitude of transparency and full accountability, Abdul Khalid changed the public’s perception by laying a strong foundation in the State Government administration through the strong state revenue sources in caring for the interests of the people.

“In administering the State Government even though he was a politician, he was able to separate it in terms of professionalism as an administrator.

“I saw that the people’s interests were always placed in front of any situation and today, we have seen the results of his efforts,” he told Selangor Kini after the Farewell Ceremony with the Chief Minister here at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Building yesterday.

Dr Yunus Hairi explained that while facing pressure in issues related to politics form his own party, Abdul Khalid still continued his duties as usual.

“He was quite professional. He never brought party issues into his work and meetings. Not even once.

“I consider it as quite commendable when he was pressured until the final meeting today (September 22),” said Ahmad Hairi who was appointed as an Executive Councillor after the 13th General Election.

5.2

In relation to the appointment of the new Chief Minister, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi hopes that there will be a continuation to the State Government administration process with integrity, transparency and openness through the reformation of the system that has been successfully developed.

He also hopes that all parties will open their hearts and receive the decision made by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, on the appointment of the new Chief Minister.

“What we want to fight for are the people’s interests. I see that each party must open their hearts.

“While facing the conflict today where Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has, at one point, been received well by the people. For me, it was raised by PR itself and we have to reflect upon ourselves for that the best can be done after this.

“We do not want (a situation where) after being consented by the Sultan for the appointment of the new Chief Minister, the conflict is not yet resolved,” he said.
