Expose individuals who get millions of ringgit, Khalid welcomes inquiry

SHAH ALAM, 27 Sept: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim asked the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to reveal the list of companies and individuals who allegedly benefit millions of ringgit from the negotiation for the restructuring of water industry in the state.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader, during a press conference, said that the names of the recipients are in his hand.

“I do not care if many people benefit from the negotiations, but who will pay? The people of Selangor,” he said, quoted from Malaysiakini.

He said this when he was met yesterday at a talk against the Sedition Act 1948 in Seberang Jaya, Penang, yesterday.

The statement was made shortly after the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, commented on the reputation of the former Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, and political parties.

On September 12, the state government and Putrajaya signed the heads of agreement to finalise the restructuring of the water supply services industry in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Through the heads of agreement, a new entity, Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), will take over operations and maintenance of the water treatment plants and the water supply services which was previously performed by four concessionaires.

According to The Star, Anwar criticised the transition which was said to not be transparent, did not go through the tender process and privatised.

Responding to the criticism, Abdul Khalid welcomes everyone, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate all agreements signed by him.

“This includes the agreement for the restructuring of the water industry in Selangor and the development agreement for Canal City. My lawyer will also issue a full statement on this matter,” he said via Twitter.
