MPSJ allocated RM400,000 to repair drainage at SS15

SUBANG JAYA, 19 Sept: The public, especially traders and residents in the commercial area of SS15 have been urged to give their cooperation by taking care of the cleanliness of the area.

The Assemblywoman for Subang Jaya, Hannah Yeoh, said that without the cooperation and awareness of the residents, the problem of cleanliness, including drainage systems, cannot be solved.

She said that the act of throwing rubbish into drains in alleys behind buildings should not be practiced.

“I hope that the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) can monitor this so that this problem does not recur.

“We also hope that local authorities will impose stricter action against parties who fail to cooperate,” she said during a press conference here this morning.

Earlier, Hannah was taken to take a look at the location where the drainage system is being repaired at SS15 and was also joined by the Member of Parliament for Kelana Jaya, Wong Chen; the Zone 1 council member, Chia Yew Ken, and representatives of the MPSJ Engineering Department.

MPAJ has allocated RM400,000 to improve the drainage at several areas in SS15, among them include Jalan SS15/4, Jalan SS15/4A Jalan SS15/AA, Jalan SS15/4G, Jalan SS15/4D and Jalan SS15/4C.

The work was carried out on August 10 and is expected to be fully completed on November 2.

At the same time, Hannah also called for drainage cleaning work to be carried out more frequently at commercial areas such as SS15 and not only carry it out twice a month.

“Twice a month is clearly not enough. Even if it is done on a weekly basis, I do not think it is enough for highly dense areas such as this.

“Drain cleaning should be done at least twice a day; in the morning and at night,” she stressed.
