PAS mulls over rejecting Deputy Speaker position, decision before the State Assembly session

SHAH ALAM, 28 Sept: PAS has yet to decide whether to accept the appointment for the post of Deputy Speaker for the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) among Assemblymen from the party.

This was discussed in a meeting with PAS Exco members with the PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, which was held last night at the residence of an Exco member who had just been appointed.

“It has not yet been decided if PAS will accept the offer for a PAS Assemblyman to be appointed as the Deputy Speaker or not.

“A decision will be made before the DNS begins and if PAS rejects it, it would be because PAS wants all PAS Assemblymen who were not appointed as Exco members to fully serve as Assemblymen in the DNS and to not juggle it with the duties as Deputy Speaker,” said the Selangor State PAS Commissioner, Iskandar Abdul Samad, when contacted by Selangor Kini today.

Iskandar added that the meeting which lasted two and a half hours was the first meeting between the new and former Exco members with the PAS President after the Exco oath ceremony.

“The President has given them a lot of advice and the role of PAS Exco members in the government was also discussed,” Iskandar added.

Apart from the three Exco members; Iskandar, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidu Abdul Talib, also at the meeting was the Selangor PAS Secretary, Mohd Khairuddin Othman.
