Sultan will advise CM if there are any issues that trouble the people

KLANG, 26 Sept: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, said that he will not intervene in the state administration run by the Chief Minister and instead will only give advice if there are issues that trouble the people.

The Sultan reminded that the duties of the Sultan is not limited to ceremonial and formal occasions, but also to ensure that the people live in peace and prosperity.

The Sultan said that the people need to understand the real function of the Sultan and the Institution of Rulers.

“I extend my appreciation to the people for supporting me in the Chief Minister appointment crisis and believing in me in resolving this crisis.

“I am always thinking about the peace, prosperity and harmony of the people of Selangor, whom I love,” he said.

Sultan Sharafuddin said this at the swearing in ceremony and pledge, as well as the Exco appointment letter presentation ceremony at the Balairung Seri, Istana Alam Shah, in Klang today.

The Sultan reminded that Malays should not be divided, extremist or mislead the people to follow false teachings.

He said that Malay Muslims cannot be have factions or criticise one another that they destroy the togetherness of the Malay community.

“Malays should not be easily misled that it compromises dignity of the sake of one’s own interests,” the Sultan said.
