MPK provides quality canopies, denied allegation of trader’s association

SHAH ALAM, 14 Oct: The Klang Municipal Council (PK) denied allegations by the Malaysian Indian Textiles and General Stores Association (MITA) who claimed that the local authority sold ‘Deepavali tents’ that are expensive and of low quality.

MPK stressed that the Grade B canopies that are priced at RM250 are affordable and of good quality.

“The Grade B canopies priced at RM250 are of good quality and the price is reasonable,” they said through a media statement.

MPK also informed that the price of the canopy offered can be owned by traders in the area.

“MPK is providing these canopies to the traders to uniform the use of canopies, thus achieving the standard allowed to avoid unstandardised designs,” they said.

Prior to this, MITA lodged a police report to claim compensation for damages when several canopies sold by MPK damaged during a storm at Little India recently.

The association also demanded for MPK to repay the price of the canopies and at the same time, allow 160 traders in the area to rent canopies from a local supplier.
