Agricultural provisions of RM14.47 million to guarantee adequate food supply

SHAH ALAM, 24 Nov: The state government has increased the allocation for agriculture to RM14.47 million in 2015 compared to RM10 million in earlier years.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that to ensure adequate food supply, the state government will improve the skills of farmers, breeders and fishermen to be master high technological skills.

“The potential for agriculture is big if we are willing to use technology with innovation and to master technology.

“Selangor is capable of being like Netherlands, with its small size compared to Pahang, where it successfully managed to become the second largest food producer in the world due to technological skills and dominating the global supply chain,” he said when presenting the Selangor Budget 2015 at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) today.

Mohamed Azmin added for the development of fishermen and farmers, the state government will work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries to ensure the success of the traditional fishermen’s economic programme.

“Through this collaboration, these fishermen will go through development programmes such as ice system installation, restoring cage pools, the ‘Jom Bertani’ programme and the living allowance for land fishermen which totals to RM15.3 million,” he added.
