MPAJ: RM10 million project to repair the slope in Teratai

SHAH ALAM, 11 Dec: The cost for permanent repairs for all rock slope stabilisation projects in Teratai is estimated to be around RM10 million following the loan assistance from the state government to the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ).

The MPAJ Corporate Communications Officer, Norhayati Ahmad, said that the permanent stabilisation work for the rock slope in Taman Bukit Permai is estimated at RM2.5 million and is expected to be completed within six months.

According to her, the tender for the project will be opened at the beginning of next year after studies and design work is completed.

“There have been reports received regarding rocks that fell on Pangsapuri Intan in Taman Bukit Permai. Those are loose rocks from the rock slope.

“The location is being studies and the design for the slope stabilisation at this time costs RM350,000. This study is scheduled to be completed later this year,” she said in a media statement.

She said that apart from Pangsapuri Intan, there are three other locations that are being studies for slope stabilisation, namely the rock slopes along Jalan Bukit Permai, Medan Bukit Permai, Taman Bukit Permai and Jalan Mega 5 and 3 in Taman Mega.

“The MPAJ Slope Division monitors the risk of the slope from time to time to take precautions to prevent the occurrence of landslides,” she said.

She said that apart from the loan from the state government, MPAJ also spent RM1.7 million to carry out work to strengthen the slope using provisions from MPAJ itself.

“In addition, RM3 million would be spent to implement routine maintenance on the slopes that are within the administration of MPAJ,” she said.
