MPK takes decisive action against illegal premises that do not comply with the law

SHAH ALAM, 22 Dec: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) takes the issue of illegal premises seriously, including residences that have been converted into business premises, and will take decisive action against the operator or landlords.

The MPK Yang Dipertua, Datuk Mohammad Yacob, said that structures without permission involve a range of issues, including cleanliness and public order.

He said that the integrated operation against several illegal structures, including residences that have been made into carwash centres at Number 52, Lorong Dato Abdul Hamid 16, Taman Sentosa, Number 1, Lorong Seri Damak 61, Taman Seri Andalas and Number 1, Jalan Raja Nong, Taman Bunga Raya.

“MPK will not compromise with these illegal premises, and the operation will continue from time to time.

“MPK has issued a notice under Section 70, the Road, Drain and Building Act (Act 133), to demolish structures to the landowners and operators from August 2014,” he added.

Meanwhile the second notice was issued to landowners and operators under Section 72 (1) and 72 (6) of the same Act in October 2014.

A compliance period of 30 days was given and ended in November 2014. The last visit before the expiry date found that the orders of the Council have still not been complied with.

“The council advises all landowners and operators in Klang that if they plan to build a building and run a business, the need to obtain advice and approval from the Council,” he said.
