State government channels immediate assistance to lighten the burden of Hulu Bernam flood victims

KUALA KUBU BHARU, 2 Dec: The state government will channel aid immediately to alleviate the burden of all flash flood victims in several villages in Hulu Bernam who are not placed at the National Service Training Centre Camp (PLKN) in Kampung Gesir Tengah near here since yesterday.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government and other authorities will work together to address the problem and see the needs that must be given to them at the temporary evacuation centre.

4.1

“We will try and do whatever it takes to help all the families involved in this incident,” he said when visiting the temporary evacuation centre today.

He said that based on the report by the Meteorological Department, rainfall conditions are expected to persist for another week and hopefully, this situation will not last long and go back to normal.

“The rainfall that happened yesterday was unexpected with excessive flow of water. However, we hope that it will not last long and together, we pray for the situation to improve,” he said.

4.2

Mohamed Azmin also presented contributions from the state government to the victim’s families during the brief visit, which was also attended by the Health Exco, Dr Daryoah Alwi.

A total of 192 people from 58 families are housed at the temporary evacuation centre and the villages involved in the flood are Kampung Gesir, Kampung Gesir Tengah, Kampung Lalang and Kampung Masjid.
