100,000 petition signatures urging America to prioritise policy to free Anwar

SHAH ALAM, 11 Feb: The people around the world are asked to sign a petition online to urge the President of the United States of America, Barrack Obama, to give priority in his government’s administrative policy for the release of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The public can do so at http://1.usa.gov/1EX0m0q.

It has been targeted for 100,000 petition signatures needed before March 12.

“But statements are not enough. The Administration must follow its words with action.

“Anwar is a political prisoner. The future of democracy in Malaysia is at stake.

In relation to that, securing Anwar’s release from prison must be a top priority in US policy towards Malaysia, to be advanced in every way possible.

IN the meantime, the US government issued a statement saying that expressed deep disappointment with the court’s decision to reject Anwar’s appeal.

The White House also informed that the decision to prosecute Anwar and the conduct of his trial raised serious concerns about the rule of law and the fairness of the judicial system in Malaysia.
