Local authority elections to be determined after Pakatan leadership meeting

SHAH ALAM, 6 Feb: The Selangor government’s stance on whether to hold local authority elections will be determined after the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Supreme Council meeting this Sunday.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that he wants to wait for the council to discuss it before reaching a final decision.

“This Sunday there will be a meeting. This matter will be discussed,” he said during a press conference at the State Government’s Secretary (SUK) Building in Shah Alam yesterday.

He said that prior to this the government had discussed it but it also requires the views of local authorities regarding the policy that can be adopted according to appropriateness.

“We do not yet have a final decision. This matter will be brought before the PR Leadership Council,” he said.
