70 urban settler enjoy the benefits of the Dana-Sel Scheme

SHAH ALAM, 3 Apr: Homeownership with the concept of hire-purchase through the Selangorku Housing Financing Scheme (Dana-Sel), which was launched at the end of 2014, shows positive signs.

The Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Life, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that the applications of 70 urban settlers were approved in Dana-Sel pilot projects involving the low-cost housings (RKR) at Ukay Indah, Sungai Sering (116 units) and the RKR at Pangsapuri Rimba, RImba Jaya (104 units).

“Dana-Sel will be carried out in stages and agency responsible for monitoring and approving the Dana-Sel is the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).

“So far, a total of 49 applications for the Rimba Jaya RKR and 21 applications for the Sungai Sering RKR have been approved,” he said when answering a verbal question from Gan Pei Nei (PKR-Rawang) during the Assembly session this morning.

The initiative aims to help settlers and the urban poor in owning their own homes.

On December 4, the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, launched the Dana-Sel Scheme with an initial allocation of RM10 million with a target of 15,000 affordable homes (RMM) to be built within two years.

All participants under the Dana-Sel Scheme are provided low-cost houses to be rented and they will own the houses after they reach the maturity period of the rental according to the terms and conditions of the hire-purchase agreement.
