CM: Court action to recover MBI compensation

SHAH ALAM, 8 Apr: Selangor’s Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) is in the process of initiating court proceedings in relation to the compensation payment case involving officers of the former Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, which allegedly did not comply with procedures.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the decision was taken when the eight officers refused to repay the compensation despite given a period of time to do so.

“This is case is now in the legislative process, MBI, through their lawyers, informed them to repay the compensation received to the state government.

“Because the grace period had ended and they refused to do so, MBI is in the process of initiating court proceedings,” he said.

He was answering a verbal question from Sulaiman Abd Razak (BN-Permatang) at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session today.

The eight officers of the former Chief Minister reportedly received compensation for work carried out at the end of Abdul Khalid’s tenure.

It was before Mohamed Azmin took over as the Chief Minister on September 23 last year.

“Referring to MBI records, the payment contradicts the processes and procedures practiced,” said Mohamed Azmin (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa).
