Permatang Pauh PKR candidate to be announced in the near future

KAJANG, 14 Apr: PKR is expected to announce its candidate for Permatang Pauh in the near future following preparations being carried out by party leaders to face the by-election for the constituency on May 7.

This includes launching the party election machinery which will be personally attended by the PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, tonight.

Wan Azizah said that PKR is ready for the by-election and that they already have a suitable candidate.

“God-willing, we will put up a candidate that would hopefully attract attention and obtain votes from the voters at Permatang Pauh.

“There must be a candidate; we would not compete without a candidate. The candidate will be announced later,” she said during a press conference today.

Commenting on whether she is the alleged candidate for the by-election, Wan Azizah replied that ‘rumours are rumours’.

The Permatang Pauh seat was declared vacant recently when the petition for pardon for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from the Agong which was filed by his family was written off by the board of pardons.

Anwar was sentenced to five years in prison in the Defamation Case 2 in February.
