SUK Premier Sports: Axia wins RM28,340 in cash

SHAH ALAM, 31 May: The Iriz Team defeated Azia in the final match of the Selangor State Government Secretary’s Office Premier Sports (SUK) 2015.

The Shah Alam stadium, the Iriz team won 1-0 due to a goal scored in the 18th minute.

Azia had the opportunity to equalise this two minutes later after being awarded a penalty kick, but it was saved by the Iriz goalkeeper.

Axia tried to rise and organised their kicks in the second half but failed to break the deadlock and the score remained the same until the end of the match.

Axia previously won eight out of the 12 events contested.

This premier sporting event is organised every two years since 2003 involving the participation of all SUK staff.

The Chairman of the Selangor State SUK Sports and Recreation Sub-Committee, Mohd Faizal Mohamed Said, said that the 6th games took place from 8 to 29 May.

He said that a total of 12 events were contested, including congkak, table tennis, futsal, basketball, sepak takraw, volleyball, bowling, badminton, tug-of-war and ended with football.

“It is held in the effort to develop personal potential an in preparation of selecting athletes for the Malaysian SUK Games that will be held in Johor in 2016,” he said.

The organisation saw the participation of 436 athletes representing the SUK management and administrative wing units which were divided into two teams, Iriz and Axia.

As the overall winner, Azia took home a cash prize of RM28,340, a trophy and certificates while Iriz won RM10,900 and also a certificate.
