TUNAS committed to open space for Selangor children to have ‘free’ kindergartens

KUALA KUBU BHARU, 22 May: The Exco for Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, said that the government remains committed to distributing the Selangor Kindergarten Assistance Scheme (Tunas) since 2012.

He said that the commitment was undertaken as an initiative by the state government to start free education in addition to carrying out their responsibility to ease the people’s burden.

“A total of 7,113 children of Selangor have received pre-school education access due to Tunas since 2012.

“We are not able to exercise it at all levels. At least, we will give free education to those who qualify at the most basic level.

“This distribution is done to ensure that assistance directly reaches the target group to enjoy charitable contributions from the state government,” he said.

For the record, RM3.4 million has been distributed in 2014 and this amount was increased to RM4 million in the 2015 budget to ensure that more children of Selangor are eligible to receive the benefits of the programme.
