BANGI, 4 AUG: 20 female participants joined the sewing class organised by the Center for Women’s Empowerment (PWB) here, last weekend.
Bangi Assemblyman, Shafie Ngah, said the programme was specifically organised to provide training on sewing traditional Indian sari blouses.
He said that almost all the participants were not proficient and with no sewing experience.
“Therefore, we want them to learn and sharpen their sewing skills so that these skills can be applied to generate income.
“They are assisted by experienced instructors throughout the course and are each given a certificate of participation upon completing the course,” he told Selangor Kini.
He, who is also the Selangor State Deputy Speaker, said this after the closing ceremony and the certificate presentation of the programme.
“We at the State Legislative Assembly service centre have always supported and encouraged programmes that benefit women and boost their living standards,” he said.
The programme, which was in collaboration with the State Legislative Assembly service centre in Bangi, was held starting from 5 July to 2 August.
