SHAH ALAM, 3 Sept: The commitment for Selangor to continue to lead in the global Halal trade and industry is being expand with the collaboration of four local universities.
The four Public Institutes of Higher Learning (IPTAs) consist of the University of Malaya (UM), the International Islamic University (IIUM), the Malaysian National university (UKM) and the Mara Institute of Technology (UITM) where they signed the collaboration agreement with Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd.
The Chief Executive Officer of Halal International Selangor (HIS), Mahmoud Abbas, said that the collaboration aims to introduce training programmes that are certified by the Halal Technical Competent Person (HTCP) at the universities.
“It is offered in five stages, for domestic and global Halal services and trade.
“Participants will be exposed to important practical knowledge about Sharia compliance, the Halal Malaysia standard and technical and commercial exposure by Halal industry experts,” he said.
Also present at the event was the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) Chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa, and the Chairman of Central Spectrum, Datuk Raja Idris Raja Kamarudin.
He said that HIS wants to make it a comprehensive community platform for the global market by opening up existing market opportunities.So, in order to expand it further, we want IPTs to be involved.Short courses for one to two weeks will be carried out.
“This time, we want to make it a learning for a year and a half,” he said.
HIS is an initiative by Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd which was launched in 2014 in Selangor to provide infrastructural facilities to respond and meet the demands of in the Halal global business.
