SHAH ALAM, 7 Sept: RM9.3 million in assessment tax arrears is not yet settled by property owners under the administration of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).

The Deputy Director of the MBSA Community Department, Shahrin Ahmad, said that through the Revenue Management and Finance Department, MBSA is performing Ops Sita against property owners who failed to pay tax arrears.

“The operation was carried out after some property owners were given warning notices but still refused to make any payments to MBSA.

“MBSA seized goods equivalent to the estimated amount of assessment tax arrears by the premises owners,” he said in a press statement.

Shahrin said that the Foreclosure Operation will be continued until the end of December 2015.

“The action will be taken against all kinds of holdings, whether residential, commercial or industrial.

“Assessment tax collection is to improve municipal services such as solid waste collection, public cleaning, landscape provision, the provision and maintenance of public facilities and infrastructure.

“Again, MBSA advised property owners to settle their assessment tax arrears to avoid any foreclosure action from being taken,” he said.
