The Selangor DAP Chairman, Teresa Kok, said that this includes the Parliamentary seats for Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor, the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) of Bukit Melawati and Kota Damansara, which were won by Pakatan Rakyat in the GE12.

“We also need to help in marginal Parliamentary areas such as Sungai Besar and Sabak Bernam; and also in other marginal DUN areas such as Sungai Panjang, Permatang, Kuang and Dengkil,” said Teresa in her speech at the Selangor DAP Convention in Shah Alam today.

She said that DAP will work hard to ensure support from the Malay community, especially in Parliamentary and DUN seats that have 30 percent of voters from the community.

This includes Parliamentary seats for Puchong, Serdang and Klang; and also for DUN seats in Sekinchan, Kuala Kubu Baharu Teratai, Balakong, Sungai Pinang and Sungai Pelek.

“During the GE13, support for DAP among Malay voters in Selangor was below 40 percent. So we need to work hard in these areas do that we can receive 50 percent of support from Malay voters in the GE14,” she said.

Teresa said that the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat needs to ensure that the delineation for Parliamentary and DUN seats are done fairly before the GE14.

She said that at this time, 10 out of 1 Parliamentary seats in Selangor have over 100,000 voters, including two DAP Parliamentary seats; Serdang and Puchong.

In terms of DUN seats, there are 22 DUN seats with over 40,000 voters, including 4 DAP DUN seats; Teratai, Balakong, Subang Jaya and Damansara Utama.

“We need to ensure that the seats are added transparently and fairly in these areas so that voters and citizens of Selangor are not marginalised in terms of representation in Parliament and DUN,” she said.
