KAJANG, 7 Mar: The State Government has launched the School Bus Incentive Programme for village children across Selangor today.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, announced that the Hulu Langat district has been chosen as the pilot for the programme.

He said that each student is eligible to receive RM20 a month, given in cash to students or the next of kin and the distribution process will be handled by the Hulu Langat District Office.

He said that the grant will be implemented following the awareness of the recent increase in cost of living.

“I hope that this school bus incentive can ease the burden of parents in villages.

“If there are three students in a house, they are eligible to receive this incentive,” he said after launching the incentive programme at the Community Hall, here at Taman Mesra.

Abdul Khalid said that findings and surveys from district offices at all levels of villages found that 4,500 village children ride school buses.

“Village Heads are tasked to provide the names of all these children to the district office to receive this incentive.

“We hope with the contribution, it can help ease the burden of parents in rural areas, who mostly earn an inconsistent and low income.

“we will also expand these two programmes; the school bus incentive and the youth skills programme, to all districts in phases so that the people of Selangor are entitled to share the wealth of the state, in line with the State Revenue For The People policy,” he said.
