MPSJ helps 720 poor and needy people celebrate Aidilfitri

SHAH ALAM, 22 July: A total of 720 poor and needy people, and people with disabilities (PWD) as well as single mothers, received RM200 in conjunction with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

The cash contribution was given by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).

The MPSJ 2014 Urban Wellbeing Programme presentation event is MPSJ’s initiative to help those in need.

The contribution was presented by the Executive Councillor in charge of Welfare and Women’s Affairs, Rodziah Ismail.

Also present was the President of MPSJ, Datuk Asmawi Kasbi, and his deputy, Abdullah Marjunid.

In a statement to Selangor Kini, the MPSJ Deputy Corporate Director, Muhammad Azli Miswan, said that each year MPSJ allocated RM300,000 for the MPSJ Urban Community Wellness Programme.

“This year, the presentation of the contribution for 2014 will be given in the form of cash; RM200 each recipient. A total of 30 recipients for each Resident’s Committee would bring the total number of recipients to 720 people, with a total contribution of RM144,000,” he said.

He said that the donation is to help the less fortunate, in line with the concept of local community.

“We also want to tighten and strengthen the existing relationship between MPSJ, Resident’s Committees and residents, with the cooperation of the Social Welfare Department,” he said.

In addition, hampers and vouchers were given to five representatives of orphans from the Al-Amin Smart Religious School and Sekolah menengah Maahad Sains Tahfiz.

The programme also received Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) cooperation from three agencies; Giant Subang Jaya, Sunway Pyramid, Bandar Sunway and F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd.

He said that MPSJ hopes that such programme will be continued in the future and receive cooperation and full support from all parties, especially from the corporate and private sectors.
