The idea of willing to lose Selangor is a deviation, reckless

SHAH ALAM, 22 Aug: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) should reject the idea of making the victory gained in Selangor in the 13th General Election as a sacrifice to resolve the Chief Minister crisis which hit the state.

The new Vice President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, said that this is because not only is the idea a deviation from the objective of changing the Chief Minister in the richest state, but it is also a reckless idea.

“In the Selangor Chief Minister crisis, some expressed willingness to lose the state and some want the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) to be dissolved. These are thoughts that are deviated and reckless.

“PR has a two thirds majority in the DNS. We have a responsibility towards the voters who gave their vote, as well as their trust and believe they gave us.

“So, if we are to follow their recommendations to lose Selangor or want the DNS to be dissolved, we are like the saying of the old people in Malacca; ‘ibarat peniaga buluh kasap, dapat hujung, pangkal lesap’ (like when a bamboo trader gets the tip, the base is gone),” he said.

Shamsul said this in his keynote address as the PKR Youth (AMK) Chief at the PKR Congress which took place at Wisma Bandaraya Shah Alam) MBSA today.

Shamsul said that those issuing such recommendations are eager to highlight themselves.

“Changes and crisis such as this are challenging, but we have to be patient in facing adversity and finding the best solution, not to divert from the path of our struggle,” he said.

He also described the discordant voices calling PKR to leave PR or those working to get rid of one of the components of the party as the whispers of the devil.
