Water sufficient until early 2015, no crisis

SHAH ALAM, 7 Sept: The Selangor Government assured that the water is sufficient until early 2015 and that they are confident that there will not be a water crisis in Selangor and the Klang Valley.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Youth and Sports, Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said that there has been an increase in the water rate at dams throughout Selangor because there have been frequent rainfall lately.

“We can see that there is frequent rainfall currently and this can increase the rate percentage at dams. Once it reached 45 percent, it can be considered secure.

“The levels at catchment ponds are also at a satisfactory level and we can see a good start for 2015,” said Dr Yunus, quoted from Sinar Harian.

He said that the good situation is a sign that there will not be water rationing in the Klang Valley.

“I think that we can survive and there may not be a rationing until the end of the year. 45 percent levels at major dams in Selangor can be counted as comfortable,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department predicted that the wind will be at a slow speed for a week or two weeks beginning Monday.

Weak wind conditions encourage active weather in the afternoons, around 2 to 3 pm, where there will be rain in some areas.
