“For the first time in Selangor, we have declared that management expenditure will be reduced to 51 percent and development will be increased to 49 percent, God willing.

“The first move; cutting the salary of the Chief Minister, Exco, Speaker and Deputy Speaker,” said Mohamed Azmin in front of nearly 2,000 attendees at the Rakyat Hakim Negara (People are the nation’s Judges) Assembly last night.

He added that this can be done because of the high reserves currently owned by Selangor should be returned to the people of the state.

“There is no meaning for a large reserve on paper but the roads still have holes, waste is not collected,” said Mohamed Azmin.

Mohamed Azmin explained that high development expenditure can have a positive impact in generating the Selangor people’s economy.

Azmin added at the solidarity programme for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that this is different from the Federal government in the Budget 2015 tabled by the Prime Minister which only allocated 18 percent for development compared to 82 percent for management expenditure.

“The amount is large, but let us not be trapped. From the RM273 billion, only 18 percent is for development and 82 percent is for management.

“This is not prudent spending, but irresponsible spending,” he added.
