MBSA reveals four elements of a low carbon city

SHAH ALAM, 26 Aug: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will organise the ‘Shah Alam Towards a Low Carbon City 2030’ international seminar in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP).

The Mayor of Shah Alam, Datuk Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad, said that the seminar aims to provide insight and guidance about the Low Carbon City Assessment System that is also known as the Low Carbon City Framework (LCCF).

5.1

“LCCF is a guide in preparing planning and sustainable development that can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).

“There are four main elements in the LCCF framework; environment, infrastructure, transportation and development in the city.

“Through this framework, local authorities can use it to measure the level of carbon emissions according to the assessment,” he said during the brief launching of the LCCF International Seminar.

Ahmad Zaharin said that MBSA will encourage government agencies, other local authorities, professional bodies, Public/Private Institutes of Higher Learning, investors, developers and consultants to participate in the seminar.

“Each entry will be charged a fee based on category. MIP members will be charged RM400.

“Meanwhile, government agencies, professional organisations, academics or developers will be charged RM450 and students RM50,” he said.

The public can obtain entry forms from the Department of Planning, Wisma MBSA, Level 9, Persiaran Perbandaran.
