KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Oct: The move by the federal government to impose the goods and services tax (GST) has caused the lives of citizens, especially the low and middle income earners, to be increasingly pressed.
Gua Musang MP, Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, said that this situation was aggravated when the federal government allowed highway concessions to increase their toll rates recently.
“They increased the toll, the GST, this burdens the people when the real income the people hope for is not felt by the people because there is no real increase.
“Maybe the people themselves have to think about increasing productivity because the world economy is abysmal,” said Tengku Razaleigh to the media at the Parliament lobby today.
The Umno veteran added that the federal governments should rectify the situation to east the living cost pressures faced by the people.
He however did not go into detail on what should be corrected by the government.
