KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Oct: The Rompin MP, Datuk Hasan Ariffin (BN) started his new duty as the National Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman with his first move, in a statement yesterday, of wanting to investigate PAC members.
Bagan MP, Lim Guan Eng (DAP), said that Hassan should prioritise investigations into the 1MDB scandal that has been stalled since Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed resigned as the PAC Chairman.
“I do not understand why Datuk Hasan in his first statement as the PAC Chairman wants to focus investigations on the position of Petaling Jaya Utara who is also a PAC member.
“The former PAC Chairman, Datuk Nur Jazlan, said that PAC members are not involved in any irregularities in the PAC or have breached confidentiality.
“Do not start work by making ridiculous investigations but investigate 1MDB, do not investigate Tony Pua because the people want answers on 1MDB and not to question Tony Pua,” said Guan Eng in his press conference at the Parliament Building today.
Guan Eng said that Hasan’s statement seems to reflect that there are ulterior motives.
“Hasan, do not try to divert attention by blaming Tony Pua,” he said.
