PAS Announces They Will Be Contesting in 76 Parliaments, 237 State Legislative Assemblies

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Apr: PAS will be contesting for 76 Parliamentary seats in the 13th General Elections (GE-13), 10 additional seats compared to 2008.

In addition, PAS will also be competing for 237 State Legislative Assembly seats throughout Malaysia.

This was announced by PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in a press conference after the launch of the PAS Media Centre in conjunction with the GE-13.

According to Abdul Hadi, PAS will also be competing in mixed seats in lieu of the positive response from the Chinese and Indian communities.

“We will break the walls of racism until the people reject MCA and MIC,” he said.

Among the PAS candidates who won in the GE-12 in mixed seats was Dr Siti Mariah Mahmood, for the Kota Raja Parliamentary constituency.

In addition, PAS also announced candidates that will be contesting in three Parliamentary seats.

PAS Youth Chief, Nasaruddin Hassan Tantawi will be competing in the Temerloh Parliament, once again witnessing an exchange of seats with PKR, which competed in the GE-12.

The Director of the PAS Department of Law and Human Rights (Juham), Ahmad Zamri Asa’ad Khuzaimi was placed as the Titiwangsa Parliament candidate which was previously represented by the late Dr Lo’ Lo Ghazali.

Meanwhile, the former Director of the Religious Corps of the Malaysia Army, Brigade General (Rtd), Datuk Najmi Ahmad, will be competing in the Baling Parliament.

Abdul Hadi explained that Datuk Taib Azamuddeen Taib as the current holder of the Baling seat will not be competing due to health problems.
