CM Visits Retention Ponds Around Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM, 17 Dec: This morning, Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim conducted a working visit to the development site of the Sungai Rasah drainage system to monitor the retention pond projects in Bukit Bandaraya.

Abdul Khalid, who arrived as early as 8.30 am, was accompanied by State Excos, Dr Xavier Jayakumar and Ronnie Liu, the Shah Alam Mayor Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan and the President of the Klang Municipal Council, Ikhsan Mukri.

During the visit, Mohd Jaafar explained to Abdul Khalid regarding recommendations for ponds to be implemented or upgraded by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) in the near future.

Among the areas visited were Persiaran Gunung Nuang, Section U11, Lorong Padang Jawa, Bukit Raja and Tasik Shah Alam.

Meanwhile, Mohd Jaafar when interviewed, said that together with the Selangor Irrigation Department (JPS) and the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), further discussions will be held in the near future to carry out the matter.

However, he said, the cost of the pond construction has yet to be decided.

“The cost of construction will be determined by the JPS. We hope to be able to discuss together with UPEN because the provisions are still under UPEN. What is essential is that the proposed development is agreed by the Chief Minister and the State Government,” he said.
