“One-off” contributions such as the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) by the Umno-BN government will create a panhandling culture and teach the people to obey leaders even though they are cruel and pressure the people.

In fact, PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said that the “BR1M” contribution was also carried out in the past during the reign of a tyrant Pharaoh and was opposed by Moses.

Abdul Hadi said that the Federal Government’s assistance programme should be teaching the people to be smarter, instead the people are accused of being beggars even though the financial assistance is from the people’s money.

“During the time of the Pharaohs there was BR1M too,” said Abdul Hadi smiling.

“The Pharaoh gave money but pressured the people. He mobilised the people and gathered them at a location.

“He then gave a speech that the project that was extended to the people is his project. The pharaoh made the people soft-minded,” said Abdul Hadi in his speech here at the Pakatan Rakyat convention.

Abdul Hadi explained the concept of PR’s policies to raise the dignity of the people so that the people can be independent and competitive. Not like Umno-BN who wants the people to beg.

“We want to teach the people to be capable and not be beggars. Therefore, with the Orange Book, we are able to implement the concept of capable people.”

Abdul Hadi also advised the people to not vote for BN, despite receiving BR1M.

“You (the people) are not a chicken, a duck, but you’re human. If given mush or coconut husks we (the people) feed it to the chicken. Then we eat the chicken instead,” he said.
