BESTARI JAYA, 11 FEB: About 1,500 residents attended the Ijok Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday) celebrations held at the Nurul Iman Batu 8 Mosque last night.
Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in his opening ceremony speech invited the people to emulate the Prophet and to apply his teachings to everyday life.
“The birth of the Prophet is a blessing to the world.
“In Prophet Muhammad’s mission framework, he bequeathed his people the Quran and Sunnah as a guidance and to shape lives,” said Abdul Khalid in his speech.
Also present at the celebrations was the Chief Minister’s wife, Puan Sri Salbiat Tunut, Kuala Selangor MP, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and Kuala Selangor District Officer, Mohamad Yasid Dugan.
Earlier, Abdul Khalid joined the residents in a Tazkirah Maghrib session which was presented by Ustaz Haslim Baharim.
The celebrations was also graced with a ‘Chat With Celebrities’ session which was chaired by Ustaz Haslim. The panel consisted of Haryati Hamzah (Yatt Hamzah), Nazrey Johani (from the group Raihan) and Farah Asyikin Zulkifli.
The program was organised by the Chief Minister’s Office in collaboration with the Nurul Iman Batu 8 Mosque in Ijok.
