PETALING JAYA, 6 Mar: The Leaders of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is firm in their stand to urge the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, to call a special parliamentary session to answer important questions and to give government clarifications regarding the Lahad Datu

This is because there are too many questions about the readiness of the security forces and the completeness of arms to defend the country’s borders.

Sungai Petani Member of Parliament, Datuk Johari Abdul said that a political solution has to be thought of as a long-term solution to improve conditions in Sabah.

This situation may result in an extended political crisis despite military action to resolve the conflict for the time being.

“Parliament has to know the actual number of intruders that can penetrate national borders and whether the security forces (police) have been given instructions as well as a clear goal when carrying out operations.

“Did this happen because of the failure of intelligence and why was the invasion not initially regarded as an armed threat or whether the government had wrongly mistook the threat of this group of invaders?” he said in a press conference.

He stressed that this matter should not be delayed as parliament is the supreme legislative body in Malaysia and all representatives of the people are entitled to a full account.

Also present at the press conference at the PKR headquarters was Shah Alam Member of Parliament, Khalid Samad and Bukit Bendera Member of Parliament, Liew Chin Tong.

Chin Tong also said that DAP Parliamentary Leader, Lim Kit Siang asked the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz about the matter but the decision still lies in Najib’s hands.

Meanwhile, Khalid Samad explained that this matter should be discussed together to find a solution because it involves the issue of national security as well as to give the people the real explanation.
