PKNS Will Immediately Repair Tiered Interchange At Selangor 2 Science Park

SHAH ALAM, 1 Mac: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) today said that the tiered interchange at Selangor 2 Science Park which collapsed will be repaired immediately.

According to PKNS General Manager, Othman Omar, clearance work is expected to take about three weeks to complete, while repair works is expected to complete in the next eight months.

“PKNS has established a technical committee of inquiry to determine the cause of this incident,” he said in a media statement issued by PKNS.

In the press release, it also stated that PKNS and Plus Berhad (Plus) has reached an agreement to appoint an independent consultant to identify the damages that occurred at the interchange by jointly bearing the cost.

Previously, the tiered interchange near Kilometre 2.4 of the Putrajaya Link heading to the Elite Highway collapsed at about 12.20 in the afternoon yesterday.

When the incident occurred, road reparations were underway under the location of the bridge.

However, there were no reports of injury or loss of life resulting from the incident.

The tiered bridge interchange which was built in October 2007 began operations in November 2009 and was handed over to Plus on 22 March 2012.

Prior to the incident, the bridge was closed to all traffic starting from 7 December 2012 and is expected to reopen on 31 December 2013 to make way for reparations.
