SHAH ALAM, 24 Apr: Pakatan Rakyat condemned the actions of irresponsible parties who made homemade bombs and attacked the Umno-BN operations centre.

Pakatan Rakyat (PR) also condemned those who burned down Umno-BN party tents in Sekinchan, Tanjong Karang today.

Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the crime was apparently designed to provoke fear and cause chaos.

Anwar praised the speed of the police force in setting up a special force to investigate these incidents. He hopes that investigations could be carried out without outside interference.

“The suspects should be arrested and tried under the Penal Code for causing an explosion that could endanger lives and property,” said Anwar Ibrahim in a statement today.

On 23 April, an explosion at the BN Nibong Tebal Operations Centre injured a staff. Another bomb was found this morning.

The Penang Police Chief, Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said that the bomb which was discovered in Nibong Tebal was made by a professional with the intention to scare the public and not to cause injury.

PKR President, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will visit the victim today to convey Pakatan Rakyat’s sympathy to those affected.

“Pakatan Rakyat is together with all parties who reject political violence in any form, and the election must be conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner.”
