SHAH ALAM, 14 May: Umno-BN tried to divert the people’s attention from the reality which is that they are a government running the state without the popular vote by inciting racial hatred.

PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the sentiment is directed to the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component parties, PAS, DAP and PKR.

Anwar said that PAS, which is Malay Muslim-dominated, is labelled as a traitor of race and religion, DAP is labelled ‘Chinese chauvinists’ while frightening the people about PKR which is labelled as the number one enemy of the nation.

“Without the popular vote and after stealing more than 30 parliamentary seats from Pakatan Rakyat (PR), they (BN) are actually hijackers.

“Therefore, there is no other choice, they have to divert attention from the fraud by sowing sedition elements of racial hatred,” Anwar stressed.

At the recent 13th General Election (GE-13), BN won 133 out of the 222 parliamentary seats contested, a decrease from the 140 seats won in the 2008 election.

Meanwhile, Pakatan managed to capture 89 parliamentary seats, seven more from the 82 won in 2008.

DAP secured 38 seats, PKR 30 seats and PAS, 21 seats.

Although BN managed to form the Federal Government, the percentage of popular votes for PR is higher, with 51 percent, compared to BN, which only managed to secure 47 percent.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, when commenting on the GE-13 results, issued a controversial statement when he assumed that the elections this time was a ‘Chinese tsunami’.

The statement was supported by a front-page headline on the Umno-owned newspaper, Utusan Malaysia, which produced an article titled ‘What More Do the Chinese Want?’.

Two days ago, a former judge, Datuk Mohd Noor Abdullah issued a statement calling for Malays to act more aggressively to defend their rights and to restructure the society, following the results of the GE-13 on 5 May.

Due to the rapid play of racial hatred, Anwar, who is also the Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh said that it is the responsibility of all Malaysians to reject the evil BN propaganda in sowing the seeds of hatred.

“I urged everyone, regardless if you are Malay, Chinese, Indians, Dayaks, Kadazans or belong to any other ethnic groups, to reject BN.

“The longer we are with BN, it means the longer we will be with a party which will bring this country to destruction,” he added.
