KUALA LUMPUR, 20 May: Nurul Izzah Anwar described the success of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in acquiring the popular vote in the 13th General Election (GE-13) as a ‘love tsunami’ of the people rejecting Umno-BN.
Nurul Izzah who is also the PKR Vice-President said that the 51 percent popular vote received by PR as a sign from Malaysians to save the country from the grip of Umno-BN, which all this while abused the trust of the people through an administration which is filled with fraud, embezzlement, corruption and so on.
According to her, the GE-13 results are suspicious and it is believed that there was fraud involving the Election Commission (EC) and other authorities controlled by Umno-BN.
“Datuk Seri Najib will continue to play the race card (to gain support). It is clear that it is not just a ‘Chinese Tsunami’ but he actually does not understand that the people stated ‘Love Tsunami’ for Malaysia. In Selangor, PR won 55 percent of Malay votes.
“Hindraf was insulted and banned in 2008 with PR being said to support an illegal anti-Malay group. Their leaders were detained under the ISA. Now, they (Umno-BN) have taken Hindraf leader, P Waythamoorthy to be a Deputy Minister.
“Throughout the election campaign, it was said that Malays do not have a future under the DAP administration. But when MCA lost, Najib panicked and wanted to invite DAP into the cabinet,” she said when speaking at the Batu branch PAS-organised talk titled ‘GE-13 Post Mortem’ here at Taman Melewar last night.
The Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament said that the GE-13 results should have been revoked due to the indelible ink which was ‘not permanent and dubious’ because there were allegedly reports that 200,000 voters could have voted a second time.
“The EC said there was ‘Silver Nitrate’. We said ‘Silver Nitrate’ was not in indelible ink. Whether shaken or not, if the ratio is right, it will be permanent.
“To compare with India, the country’s indelible ink lasts three months. So, I want to say that in this case, they (EC) should have declared that the results of the recent general election as invalid.
Nurul Izzah added that studies conducted by UMCEDEL since 1969 also revealed that BN had never won more than 60 percent of the people’s votes and that the matter was mitigated by the redrawing of the boundary delimitation where BN finally won, won and won.
