PKR Has Police Report Evidence of EC Officers Detained

PETALING JAYA, 26 May: The People’s Justice Party (PKR) claims to have evidence of police reports lodged about the alleged 24 Election Commission (EC) officers who were detained for marking ballot [papers at the Besut Parliament during the 13th General Election (GE-13).

PKR Secretary General, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail claimed that there is a police report which was lodged by the Election Commission (EC) regarding the incident.

“The incident happened at the Besut Parliament and the police report arrived at the PKR Office because we opened a space to receive all complaints.

“And the police report stated in detail the names of the officers and when it happened as well as who did it,” said Saifuddin.

He said this during a press conference at the 9th Keadilan National Congress which was held here at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Civic Hall yesterday.

Saifuddin said that the report clearly listed the name of candidate from Barisan Nasional who was involved in the incident.

“We will not reveal the name of the candidate, but we will reveal that we have a copy of the police report which was lodged by the EC regarding the incident which involved the BN candidate in Besut.

Saifuddin claimed that the officer was an EC officer who lodged a police report regarding the matter.

Previously, the Second Education Minister, Datuk Idris Jusoh wanted to sue PKR, including PKR Strategy Director, Rafizi Ramli who claimed that 24 EC officers were detained to mark ballot papers in the Besut Parliament.

During the General Election on May 5, the Besut BN candidate, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh received 35,232 votes defeating PAS candidate, Riduan Mohamad Nor who received 26,890 votes.

Idris won by a majority of 8,342 votes.
