SHAH ALAM, 6 May: The Selangor Chief Minister candidate will be decided by Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) top leadership before presented to DYMM the Sultan of Selangor for his assent.

According to the Selangor PR Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the decision will be made in the nearest future.

“The decision for the Chief Minister candidate will be decided by the highest leadership of PR and also the name must be accepted by DYMM the Sultan,” said Abdul Khalid in a press statement at the Selangor State Exco Housing Hall.

According to Abdul Khalid, at the moment, PAS managed to win 15 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats, followed by DAP, also 15, and PKR, 14 seats bringing the total to 44 DUN seats won by PR.

On behalf of the Selangor PR, he is also thankful for the confidence given to PR to continue Selangor’s excellence and to continue the ‘Localising the Selangor Economy’ (Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor) agenda which was started in 2008.

“This proves that we have fulfilled our promises to the people of Selangor who were not swayed by claims that we had failed in properly administering Selangor.

“We also like to thank the people of Selangor for rejecting racial politics brought by Umno and Barisan Nasional, especially during the GE-13 campaign,” said Abdul Khalid who is also the Port Klang Assemblyman.

PR first managed to govern Selangor in the 12th General Election in 2008 after winning 36 constituency seats of the state.

Following the win, Abdul Khalid was selected to be the Chief Minister by the Sultan of Selangor from 2008 until the recent dissolution.

In the 13th General Election (GE-13) which was held yesterday, Selangor PR received a more stylish win when they successfully won two-thirds from the 56 Selangor State Assembly seats.
