Emulating the Excellence of Muslim Women Figures Programme in Nine Districts in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, July 12: About 10,000 women are expected to benefit from special programmes organised by the Selangor State Women’s Affairs Standing Committee together with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) which is being conducted during the Ramadan month.

According to the Exco for Welfare and Women’s Affairs, Rodziah Ismail, these programmes will be carried out in nine districts with the aim to boost attendance during the Ramadan month through the dissemination of knowledge from the al- Qu’ran and Sunnah to be applied in life, in line with the mission of Women’s Empowerment Selangor.

“Ramadan is the best time for women be introspect (in evaluating themselves) and to boost efforts and increase practices more than usual.

“I also think that it’s important for women to take advantage of the blessed Ramadan month, not only for their own benefit but also to encourage their family to empower their lives for the better and with added value,” Rodziah explained in a media statement.

Rodziah said that for the talks session, it will highlight Muslim women leaders mentioned in the al-Qu’ran consisting of defenders of justice, advisors to Islamic leaders and the Prophet himself, warriors in the battlefield, intellectuals and businesswomen.

“Hopefully, with the knowledge gained in these Ramadan programmes, women will be more serious in improving themselves, their families and the community to enhance self-reliance and to gain blessings in their lives.

“I urge all women in Selangor to attended the Ramadan prosperity through the Emulating the Excellence of Muslim Women Figures programmes in their respective districts,” said the Batu Tiga Assemblywoman.

The launch of the state-level programme will be held on Sunday, 21 July 2013, at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque in Shah Alam.
