The football friendly match between Barcelona and Malaysia XI scheduled to take place today at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium had been shifted to the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam.

This was confirmed by the Exco in charge of Tourism, Consumer Affairs and the Environment, Elizabeth Wong, when contacted by TVSelangor this morning, stating that the location change was decided late last night.

According the Spanish club’s official portal, fcbarcelona.com, the Vice-President of Barcelona (Sports), Josep Maria Bartomeu, the Bukit Jalil National Stadium pitch was unsuitable for the match.

He said that they made the discussion during discussions with the Football Director of the club, Andoni Zubizarreta, after the training session yesterday afternoon.

According to the contract, the venue of the match which features world famous stars, can be changed if the venue agreed on in February did not meet the conditions set.

Citing from the club’s website, Zubizarreta, when interviewed by reporters, said that the Bukit Jalil National Stadium was not suitable and that the club will not compromise the condition of the players.

He considers the team’s trip to Asia as very good, he also said that the condition of the pitch at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium should be improved.
