Selangor Contributes RM100,000 for the Welfare of Teochews

SUBANG JAYA, August 17: The Selangor Government has allocated RM100,000 to the Selangor Federal Teochew Association to help less fortunate Teochew families.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the allocation will be distributed as soon as possible to help those in need of compassionate welfare.

“This association was established even before independence, and has successfully developed the Teochew family, not only in Malaysia but throughout the world,” he said.

He said this at the opening ceremony of the 79th Anniversary of the Federal Teochew Association of Malaysia in Sunway Resort and Spa Hotel this morning.

Also present at the ceremony with about 1,200 Teochew delegates from around the country was the Federation Chairman of the Teochew Association of Malaysia, Datuk Goh Wang Seng.

It is estimated that there are over 700,000 Teochews across the country.
