Selangor to Set-Up Special Committee to Help Improve Public Transport Quality

KLANG, August 2: The State Government will set-up ad special committee to help improve the quality of public transport in this country.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said, the effort needs to be taken to curb the increased rate of private vehicles in the road, thereby reducing the rate of accidents in the country.

According to Abdul Khalid, the committee which is to be set-up will be headed by him and will comprise of State Executive Councillors and the Selangor Town and Country Planning Unit.

“The State Government will try to set-up a committee to identify how public transport can be improved.

“That way, we can reduce the amount of private vehicles and the ownership of cars and motorcycles which causes the conditions of the road to be congested and cause accidents to occur,” he said.

Abdul Khalid said this at a press conference after launching the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Road Safety Campaign 2013 for Selangor at the Sungai Rasau Toll Plaza today.

At the event, Abdul Khalid distributed 30 helmets to motorcyclists and gave Goodie Bags to motorists

He also reminded all road users to be careful on ttheir way to their destinations.
