Telok Megenon Mosque Not Can Accommodate 1,000 Worshipers

KLANG, August 2: In line with the increase in population, the Telok Megenon Mosque which was upgraded now can accommodate up to 1,000 people at one time.

The mosque was inaugurated by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in conjunction with the Iftar with DYMM the Sultan of Selangor here at Kampung Telok Megenon.

The cost to upgrade the mosque totaled RM3 million.

The mosque is also equipped with a main prayer room, a prayer area at the veranda, men and women ablution places, disabled-friendly toilets, an Imam room and a muezzin room.

At the event, the Sultan also consented to present Hari Raya donations to 239 poor and needy asnaf, 203 orphans and 100 converts for the Klang district.

In addition, the Sultan of Selangor consented to receive business zakat amounting to RM1.6 million from three companies.

The three companies were, UMW Holdings Berhad which contributed RM1 million, the Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd which contributed RM391,547, and the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) which contributed RM200,000.

Accompanying the Sultan was the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the State Government Secretary, Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi and JAIS Director, Datuk Marzuki Husin.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Marzuki advised those who want to contribute donations to check with the welfare homes first so that it is not misused.

“They must first check with welfare homes so that the contributions given are not misused by those with interests or to non-recognised welfare homes.

“For the record, as of this year, there are 39 welfare homes under the monitoring of Jais,” he said.
