KLANG, September 13: The four-year-wait of a single mother, Raja Devi, 34, and her four children to obtain personal identification documents finally ended when they received it today.

The Assemblyman for Sri Andalas, Dr Xavier Jayakumar said that this success was achieved when he and a volunteer of the Sri Andalas State Legislative Assembly, Tamil Maran, worked hard to settle so that they could obtain the important documentation.

“Raja Devi and her 15-year old son received the blue MyKad, while her three other children aged 10, 9 and 5, received their respective birth certificates.

“We hope that with document it will make it easier for this family to conduct official business, including to gain employment,” said Dr Xavier in a press conference where he presented the MyKad at his office.

Previously, he and Tamil Maran worked hard to resolve the matter and went back and forth to the National Registration Department (NRD), the Klang Hospital, Port Dickson and Kuantan to get proof of the birth of the family members of the single mother who is visually impaired.

“I am very touched with Dr Xavier and Tamil’s sacrifices as they did not give up in getting the valid Malaysian citizenship documents,” said Raja Devi.

In the meantime, the office of the Sri Andalas State Legislative Assembly also helped register Raja Devi’s eldest son, Logeswaran in the My Skill Foundation skills institution in Klang and her other two children were helped with their primary school registration.
