SHAH ALAM, 25 SEPT: Recent police data shows that the crime index of Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has declined by 245.28 cases per 100,000 population between January and August, compared to the same period this time last year.

A decrease of 30.48 percent is proof that the MBSA had achieved the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) by five percent.

MBSA also recorded a reduction of street crime, registering a 36.78 percent reduction that surpassed the 20 percent goal.

This was announced during the 9th MBSA Council for 2012/2013 today at Wisma MBSA here to discuss solutions for the issues raised by the members.

The mayor of Shah Alam, Datuk Mohd Jaafar Mohd Atan, said the success could not have been achieved without the collaboration between the authorities and the public in curbing crime.

“This is our joint effort with the police, such as improving lighting by installing more lamps and adding closed circuit cameras (CCTV) at strategic locations.

“Public cooperation is also important,” he said, adding that this was part of the success of the initiative Shah Alam as a safe city.
