KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Oct: Pakatan Rakyat proposed the establishment of a special committee, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, to assess the Auditor General’s Report.

This committee should consist of the Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Auditor General, Tan Sri Ambrin Buang.

This was expressed by the Member of Parliament for Gombak, Mohamed Azmin Ali, following the Auditor General’s 2012 Report which revealed a lot of leakages, especially involving the police.

The PKR Deputy President said, the civil service cannot be fully blamed for the loss of a variety of equipment in police custody.

“Pakatan insists for this to stop by forming a special committee to look into detail the Auditor General’s Report.

“If there is a need, those responsible should be immediately brought to justice,” he said at the Parliament lobby.

The Auditor General’s 2012 Report revealed that the police recorded 309 items, in the form of firearms, handcuffs and vehicles, lost.

It occurred between 2010 till 2012, involving a loss of RM1.33 million, the loss of handcuffs being the highest number of cases at 156, followed by firearms at 44 and police vehicles at 29.
