MPS Monitors Areas Where Flooding is Prone in Rawang

SHAH ALAM, 25 Dec: The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) announced that they will be conducting monitoring from time to time in several areas in Rawang that have high risk of flooding.

The move was taken after a flash flood and natural disaster happened in several areas in the town early yesterday morning.

The MPS Public Relations Officer, Azhar Che Salleh, said in the incident early yesterday morning, MPS placed members from the Enforcement and Engineering Department at the scene.

“As soon as MPS was informed about the incident, about 30 members, divided into two groups, were placed on duty to help the safety teams and departments involved.

“Apart from the Engineering Department, also monitoring the drainage system together with the Department of Drainage and Irrigation (JPS) are enforcement officers, who also help other safety teams control traffic and pushing vehicles trapped in the flood,” he explained when contacted by Selangor Kini.

“From early information obtained, the flood situation in Taman Garing was due to the failure of the irrigation system.

“Previously, the JPS hired a contractor to improve the drainage system. However, the work has not completed fully. We did not expect such a terrible flood to happen,” he said.

However, MPS is working together with JPS to study the real cause and it will be followed with a thorough report regarding the incident.
